Trip Highlights
Alaknanda
is the main tributary of the Mighty Ganga. This beautiful river passes
through some of the most scenic valleys in the Garhwal Himalayas.
Our 5 day rafting expedition combines the ultimate experience of rafting
through grade 3 and 4 rapids, walking into the virgin forests and
unique mountain villages, camping on exclusive beaches and enjoying
the rich and abundant Himalayan bird life.
The expedition is fully self-contained; carrying all camping equipment,
food and support staff with us on separate rafts and setting up camp
each evening. Stringently following international safety procedures,
we have expert certified river guides, imported self-bailing Hiside
or Avon rafts with life-line, throw bag, helmets, life jackets and
backup safety kayakers.

Day by Day Itinerary
Day 01 : Drive Shivpuri to Srinagar and raft down to Bagwan. Overnight
in expedition tents
Arrive in Shivpuri early morning for wash and change followed
by breakfast at our beach camp.
After breakfast we set off on the 3 hour drive to Srinagar (not to
be confused with Kashmir's Srinagar), the starting point of our expedition.
Here we will have lunch and gather by the river for a full safety
briefing on rafting, and practice paddling on the flat water before
hitting the rapids.
Today's rafting session is a good introduction to the river, lasting
approximately 2 hours and tackling Grade 2 and 3 rapids. Arriving
at the beach in Bagwan we set up camp for a hot cup of tea, campfire
and dinner.
Overnight in expedition tents on twin share basis
Day 02 : Raft from Bagwan to Beas Ghat
After breakfast we set off on our second day on the river, negotiating
exciting Grade 3 rapids and stopping on a beach on the way for our
lunch. After lunch we raft further down to the holy village of Devprayag
at the confluence of the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers, the point
where the name Ganga is first used, before continuing on down to
Byas Ghat where we set up camp for the night.
Dinner and overnight in expedition tents on twin share basis
Day 03 : Raft from Beas Ghat to Byasi
Today's rafting is good exercise for the paddlers as the water
flows calmly and there are few rapids. There is some beautiful scenery
to take in, including wildlife such as elephants, barhal, langoors
and if you are lucky, even the elusive spotted leopard. The Ganga
flows through a small gorge which is only reachable by raft.
The action starts from Kaudiyala, where you will start by hitting
the Daniel's Dip and end the day on a high by going through the
massive Wall.
Dinner and overnight in expedition tents on twin share basis
Day 04 : Raft from Byasi to NIM Beach
Start rafting after breakfast and hit a series of rapids like
the Cash Flow, Black Money, Three Blind Mice, Cross Fire and Return
to Sender.
We arrive in time for an early lunch at the Beach camp before getting
back on the river for the final section of whitewater, and exciting
2 hour stretch hitting rapids like the Golf Course and the Roller
Coaster with a break for cliff jumping.
Return to Beach Camp in Shivpuri for a campfire with snacks and
a non-vegetarian buffet dinner, for a final night in the great outdoors
before heading back to the city.
