About the Park
Originally the private forest and preserve of the Mahraja of Rewa,
Bandhavgarh includes 22 hills and is spread over 450 sq kms. This
area is deeply associated with Hindu mythology and the old fort of
Bandhavgarh is said to have been built by the minkey kings of lore.
The game watching here is excellent and tiger is the prize.
Common Animals
Tiger, blue-bull antelope, chausingha deer, wild boar, indian bison,
sambar and spotted deer, rhesus macaque, black faced langur, jungle
cats, hyena, jackal, porcupine and ratel.
Common Birds
Steppe eagle, blue bearded bee eater, white bellied drongo, tickells
blue flycatcher, white browed fantail, gold fronted and jerdo's leaf-birds,
minivets, woodshrikes, blossom headed parakeet, grey and malabar hornbills
and paradise flycatcher.
