About the Park
This was the first wildlife reserve in India and was designed by Major
Jim Corbett, the master shikari himself, way back in the mid 30's,
when hunting tigers was in vogue.
Located just 300 Km northeast of Delhi and cradled in the Himalayan
foothills Corbett National Park is the birth place of the highly successfull
Project Tiger which managed to control the rapidly declining population
of the tiger. The best season for game watching is winter, when the
birds are also in abundance.
Common Animals
Tiger, Leopard, Smaller Cats, Sloth Bear, Himalayan Black Bear, Wild
Dogs, Jackal, Elephants, Spotted Deer, Sambar Deer, Barking Deer,
Wild Boar and Monkeys.
Common Birds
There are over 500 species of birds in the park. A visit to Corbett
in the winter can be a life long memory for the best travelled bird
watchers.
