About the Park
On the banks of the mighty River Brhamaputra, the Kaziranga National
Park offers some of the best views in the World of the Indian One
Horned Rhonicerus and Wild Buffalo. Despite poaching for its precious
horn, the rhino is doing very well here and can easily be sighted
at close quarters. Because of the terrain and big animals around,
the only way to see the park is on elephant back. The mighty elephants,
rhinos and buffalo combined with the slushy terrain and impenetrable
forests make any other kind of safari impossible. A tourist visiting
the East of India is strongly advised not to leave without visiting
Kaziranga and Manas, the other sanctuary in Assam.
Common Animals
One horned indian rhino, asiatic elephant, tiger, wild Buffalo,
swamp and spotted deer, wild boar, gaur, small cats, monitor lizard,
rock-python.
Common Birds
Crested serpent eagle, palla fishing eagle, grey headed fishing eagle,
bengal florican, swamp partridge, whistling teal, rose breasted parakeet,
storks, cormorants, ducks.
