About the Park
Only 176 kms from Delhi and 50 Kms west of Agra and the Taj Mahal,
Keoladeo Ghana is one of the best places in the World for serious
and also amateur bird watchers. Over 350 species of permanent and
migratory birds breed in the 29 Sq Km of marshes and woodlands of
Bharatpur. The area was developed as a wildfowl hunting preserve by
the Mahraja of Bharatpur in the late 19th Century.
This is one of the only two breeding sites for the endangered Siberian
Cranes and numerous water birds that visit it during the cold nothern
winters.

Common Animals
Wild boar, sambar, blue bull, black buck, mongoose, small cats,
jackals, fox, hyena and rock pythons.
Common Birds
In all there are about 350 species of birds seen here which include
white ibis, painted stork, siberian cranes, openbill, spoonbill, egrets,
herons, cormorants, shags, moorhens, jacanas, ducks, bar headed geese,
plovers, pelicans, warblers, pipits, wagtails, buntings, demoiselle
and sarus crane, steppe eagle, marsh harriers, osprey, peregrine falcon,
ring-tail fishing eagle, kites, vultures, kinfishers, curlews and
yet many more...
